2nd Lieutenant Earl E. “Bo” Cline (SN: 02061147) was born 20 January 1920 in Chattanooga, TN. He enlisted into the United States Army Air Corps on 10 June 1944 and served as a Bombardier with the 574th Bomber Squadron, 391st Bomber Group.

2LT Cline saw action in the Ardennes and the Rhineland, and was wounded as his aircraft was shot down by enemy fire on 23 December 1945. He was capture by the Germans and spent seven months in a Prisoner of War Camp.

His awards and decorations consist of the Air Medal, Purple Heart, Prisoner of War Medal, European-African-Middle-Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, WWII Victory Medal, and Bombardier Wings.

As we traveled to Chattanooga, TN to perform another return, we had the honor of meeting 2LT Cline. At that ceremony he shared something very special with us. He was never officially awarded his Purple Heart, the Government simply sent it to him in the mail. He asked us if we could present his medal and we were more than honored to do so. At a special ceremony on 28 August 2015 at his local church, Purple Hearts Reunited was joined by his family and friends to witness a true American Hero receive the honor he earned so many years ago.

There was also a special musical performance by Nashville Music Artist Beau Davidson as he performed his hit song “Blessed”.
